The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) in the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) offers two master's degree programs, one in P-12 Educational Leadership and the other in Higher Education with an emphasis on Student Affairs and higher education. In addition, we offer an Ph.D. that has two emphases: P-12 Educational Leadership and Higher Education Leadership. In addition to the degree programs noted above, we also offer professional programs leading to eligibility for the Texas Principal and Superintendent certificates. Our faculty is building a learning community dedicated to collegial program development, scholarship, and the preparation of education professionals to serve diverse learning environments across the P-20 pipeline. The department seeks to develop and strengthen our academic programs, particularly in higher education and community colleges; maintain and expand program capacity consistent with student demand; heighten our national visibility as a department and as a faculty, particularly through increased extramural funding for faculty research and other activities; maintain and enhance faculty diversity; and meet the needs of our service area and state for educational leadership and policy research. We are looking for faculty members with expertise or scholarly emphasis in one or more of the following areas: community college leadership; student affairs; Queer/LGBTQ /Joteria; undocumented and/or immigrant students; traditionally marginalized and underserved students; critical methods; or critical theories.
Responsibilities for the position include teaching on two campuses, typically in the evening and possibly including hybrid and online formats; growing the community college program; conducting and publishing scholarly research; participating in efforts designed to seek external funding support for scholarly research; recruitment; program development; advising students and guiding their doctoral research; serving on and/or chairing doctoral dissertation committees; and providing service to departmental, college, university, community, and professional constituencies.

Required Qualifications
- Expertise or scholarly emphasis in one or more of the following areas of research: community college leadership; student affairs; Queer/LGBTQ /Joteria; undocumented and/or immigrant students; traditionally marginalized and underserved students; critical methods; or critical theories;
- Earned doctorate in higher education or closely related field by June 30, 2023;
- Demonstrated potential to conduct and publish scholarly research in higher education;
- Demonstrated potential in teaching excellence;
- Demonstrated advocacy for equity in education,
- An articulated research agenda,
- Professional experience advancing student learning, student development and leadership, student success, or diversity and inclusion, etc. in diverse higher education settings;
- Experience supervising dissertations and working collaboratively with students on research; and
- Participating in strategic program development and leadership experience in departmental committees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced skills in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies/data analysis;
- Professional (administrative or programmatic) experience in higher education, student affairs, or educational policy settings;
- Publication in appropriate professional outlets;
- Collaborative experiences with university faculty and staff in curriculum development, joint research and teaching ventures, and other department and university activities;
- Participation and involvement in professional associations; and
- Demonstrated potential of securing external funding for research.
