The Forsthuber laboratory has an opening for two part-time RSA I research positions during Summer 2022 (June - August) in an Immunology laboratory. Our laboratory investigates the causes of human multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases using tissue culture and animal models of these diseases. We are looking for two individuals at the master's level interested in participating in this research as members of a strong research team.
The RSAs will support the researchers working on these projects and participate in experiments. The positions will provide training in immunology, molecular biology, and cell biology methods, including flow cytometry, PCR, microscopy, cytokine assays, animal husbandry, lab management, etc.

Essential job functions include assisting researchers in the lab with their projects. Other critical job duties for this position include mouse husbandry, breeding, and genotyping of mouse lines critical for research projects. It is expected that the position will help with general lab support.
The RSA I will participate in research working with transduction of immune cells with viral vectors and investigation of the function of these immune cells in an autoimmune disease model in mice.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in immunological, cell biological, and molecular biological methods would be helpful but is not required. We anticipate that the GRA I will conduct some of the research studies independently.
