Primary Purpose and Essential Functions |
PRIMARY PURPOSES: Reporting to the Chair of Diagnostic Sciences, the incumbent will be responsible for ICS III Course oversight as well as Coordination of Interprofessional Activities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ICS III DS303 is designed to build and expand on the knowledge gained during the first two years of dental school. The course covers twelve different Themes over three quarters. These Themes are arranged in an order that is designed to facilitate passage of National Boards, but more importantly the entire course is designed to strengthen skills in critical thinking and the use of published evidence in decision making. In private practice, dentists will need to present well thought out and concise treatment plans to patients. Well executed presentations of treatment plans will greatly increase patient acceptance and satisfaction. Faculty members from various departments will facilitate a two hour discussion of the Theme assigned to each session. They will be assisted by additional faculty from contributing departments; and there will be assigned reading for each Theme. Following the discussion portion each week, three to four students will present clinical cases.
In addition to the duties of course direction for ICS III, the incumbent will also lead the efforts to enhance Interprofessional Education opportunities. At the Dugoni School, Interprofessional Education encompasses: extramural rotations, in-class seminars: Chair of the IPE Committee. Content within IPE includes:
The incumbent will seek additional extramural rotation sites by working with the IPE Committee and other stakeholders. Additional Elements: Regular teaching evaluation will be provided by the Chair of the Department, peers, and students; this process includes ratings of Teaching, Scholarship, and Service. It is expected that the incumbent will produce scholarship per the University and School of Dentistry guidelines to be found in the Faculty Handbook under the Promotion and Tenure section. Participation in service activities including, but not limited to committees, taskforces, and other service-related activities is expected. The incumbent is expected to provide in-person teaching at the School of Dentistry's Sacramento campus at the discreet the Chair of Diagnostic Sciences, as well as clinical teaching in the Main Clinic at either site. |

Hiring Range | $135,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
