Job Description:
The Assistant Director of the LaValley Law Library oversees the public and student services functions of the College of Law’s Library, including supervision of the Evening/Weekend Reference Librarian, and the Librarian I who in turn supervises ten to fifteen student employees. Like the Assistant Dean/Associate Professor, the Assistant Director also serves as a primary legal research librarian resource for the College of Law, answering questions regarding the collection, aiding patrons in locating print and electronic resources, and referring queries to others as appropriate.
Principal Duties:
The Assistant Director position cooperates with librarians and staff at Carlson Library and Health Sciences Library to streamline efficiencies, improves access to information resources for legal education and research and improves law student and other user satisfaction with the LaValley Law Library.
The Assistant Director receives direction from the Assistant Dean for the LaValley Law Library / Associate Professor of Law. This position supervises the work of the Senior Electronic/Media Services Librarian, the Legal Reference Librarian, the Evening/Weekend Reference Librarian, the Librarian I, and, through the Librarian I, indirectly supervises the Law Library’s 10 to 15 student employees.
