The English Department is one of the largest academic units at UW-SP. Some 17 faculty offer a full range of classes from first-year composition and humanities general education courses to upper-division literature, creative and professional writing, and teacher education classes fulfilling the requirements of our Major/Minors. Our commitment to teaching is of primary importance, but department members also manage to engage productively in a variety of scholarly and creative projects. The department also houses the Cornerstone Press, one of the only student-staffed publishing houses in the United States.

JOB DETAILS:
Position Summary
The department of English is seeking applicants for a Lecturer position with a teaching load of 12 credits per semester. Courses to be assigned range from Writing for Digital Media, Professional Writing, and Composition depending on need; possibly additional courses in LGBTQ and/or Disability Studies depending on experience. The usual course assignment distribution is 6 credits of composition and 6 credits in area of specialization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications
- Completed terminal degree, Ph.D., in appropriate specialization
- Active publication record in area of expertise
- A record of outstanding teaching, as well as a demonstrated strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and awareness of the importance of diversity in education
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with publication management
- Teaching and/or publication in LGBTQ and/or Disability Studies
- Coursework and/or teaching interest in digital storytelling

Terms of Employment
This is an Academic Staff, fixed-term (no intent to renew), academic year based appointment, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. This is anticipated to be a two-year appointment, contracted each year. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
