About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Foreman to join our team in Bolingbrook, Illinois. As a Shop Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our shop, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will be expected to lead by example, providing guidance and support to our team of technicians and mechanics, and ensuring that all work is completed on time and within budget. Your ultimate goal will be to ensure that our shop runs smoothly and that our customers receive the best possible service. The Shop Foreman plans, schedules, coordinates and implements methods and procedures for the most efficient and economical repairs of equipment in an error-free manner; inspect and measure performance of maintenance personnel to improve overall Service Center operations.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews daily maintenance schedule and confers with shift personnel
- Maintains superior internal and external customer relations, consistent with company policies
- Assists in the training, development and evaluation of maintenance personnel; in conjunction with Shop Manager
- Ensures maintenance facility conforms to prescribed standards of safety and cleanliness
- Assists Shop Manager in the investigation, reporting and initiation of corrective actions for accidents and job related injuries
- Is knowledgeable and has understanding and application of company safety practices including DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Experience with diesel engine repairs: perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing assigned equipment between each assigned vehicle.
- Test all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques to repair and maintain equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and managers both verbally and in writing.
- Previous supervisory experience in a shop environment.
- Communicate effectively with the parts department and shop manager.
- Identifies mechanical problems.
- Post inspection of repairs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
