What are the responsibilities and job description for the WIC Nutrition Educator, Lake County and Chaffee County position at Upper Arkansas Area Council of Governments?
As a WIC Nutrition Educator, you will:
· Deliver services to participants, determining and documenting eligibility, interviewing and assessing nutrition risk factors, providing nutrition education with behavior change goals, issuing food instruments (checks), developing individual care plans based on a sound understanding of nutritional concepts and participant needs, and maintaining participant and Program records. Working under minimal supervision must use independent judgment with a high degree of initiative within established procedures and guidelines. Must foster a culture of patient and family centered care, service, quality, and safety excellence while improving patient and employee experience and community relations.
Required Competencies:
· Create a friendly and supportive environment that enhances client receptivity. Ability to work with a wide variety of people, including clients who have difficulty reading and/or writing.
· Attention to detail as well as a high degree of accuracy in responding to client inquiries and in completing all paperwork in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations.
· High degree of comfort working with parents, caregivers and children.
- Maintain confidentiality of participants and ensure that participants are treated equally with respect, compassion and empathy.
· Ability to clearly communicate the requirements of the various programs, including support for breast feeding and high-risk infants.
Preferred Competencies:
· Bilingual Spanish and English
Compensation:
· $15.00 per hour with a .25 increase for each WIC training module passed (3 modules done within 9 months of hire date).
Additional information:
· Required travel within Lake and Chaffee Counties. Travel reimbursed at the current IRS mileage rate.
· Some travel required to other sites in Custer and Fremont Counties, including to the UAACOG Main office in Canon City.
