Position Summary
Upper Iowa University invites the applications for a Graduate Assistant Coach in Men’s Basketball. This is a 10-month position beginning in August. Compensation for the position includes a monthly stipend and tuition assistance. The Graduate Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Upper Iowa University reports directly to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and is responsible for assisting in the planning, directing, and evaluating all aspects and facets of a successful Men’s Basketball program on the NCAA Division II level.
Position Responsibilities
- Recruitment of highly skilled and academically qualified student-athletes, monitor academic progress and eligibility, and effectively analyze and teach the fundamentals skills and strategies of the sport.
- Plan, organize, conduct, and evaluate practice sessions along with develop, implement, and evaluate game plans and strategies.
- Serve as a leader, mentor, and role-model to the student-athletes of the program.
- Oversee administrative processes and procedures as assigned. Ensure compliance with all Department, University, NCAA, and NSIC policies, procedures, and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Applicant must be admitted into a graduate program at Upper Iowa University and maintain a Grade Point Average of 3.0.
- The applicant should have at least two of experience with in boy’s/men’s organized basketball (collegiate, AAU, high school, etc.)
- Must understand NCAA rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of collegiate coaching experience, have previous experience recruiting, or worked with a collegiate program.
Other
- 10-month renewable contract
- Monthly stipend ($1,000)
- Includes coverage of fees for master's degree
