What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Specialized Direct Support Professional position at Upper Valley Services?
Upper Valley Services (UVS) is one of Vermont’s designated non-profit agencies serving people with developmental disabilities and adults who are eligible for Adult Family Care.
UVS is seeking skilled staff to provide direct support to an individual living in the Bradford area. The individual enjoys art, listening to music, and making crafts. Required support includes assistance to maintain health, safety, and well-being, providing necessary therapeutic supports, communicating wants/needs effectively, engaging in the community to explore interests and foster relationships, increasing independent living skills, and providing personal care as needed.
Training and shadowing opportunities will be provided, including de-escalation techniques and Therapeutic Options.
The individual requires 2:1 support 24/7.
Available shifts include 8-hour, 12-hour, or 24-hour, based on programming need.
The starting wage for this position is $23hr.
The ideal candidate must be able to:
· Remain calm in difficult or emergency situations.
· Support an individual with complex developmental disability, behavioral, and mental health needs.
· Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills.
Candidates will undergo a background check, must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and auto insurance.
A $500 hiring bonus will be offered to the selected candidate at the time of hire and another $500 bonus after successfully completing 6 consecutive months in the position.
