General Description
The IT Technical Specialist performs a broad scope of IT activities requiring experienced, professional knowledge and application of IT principles, practices and procedures. The Information Technology (IT) Specialist is responsible for performing IT support and troubleshooting on various IT systems. Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify root causes of problems and resolve them in a timely manner are required. The IT Specialist will provide technical assistance to staff who have issues with their computer, software, networking, and other devices.

Minimum Qualifications
Education : An associate degree in information technology field or equivalent work experience is required. A strong technical background is preferred but not required. A strong background in computer networks is also preferred but not required.A strong understanding of Windows Operating Systems / Microsoft Office Suite is required along with the ability to install / configure software on computers is preferred but not required.Experience : Two years of job-related experience.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to successfully interact with staff, and other stakeholders.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.A valid driver's license, available to travel for meetings or training.What You’ll Be Doing
Primarily provide technical support and guidance remotely and on-site to staff with their IT hardware (laptops, desktops, cell phones, VOIP phones, printers, network equipment and peripherals) and software issues.User support : Respond to user inquiries and offer solutions to IT-related challenges in a timely manner.Computer setup and troubleshooting : Assist employees in setting up their computers, installing necessary software, and configuring network connectivity.Software and system updates : Assist in implementing software updates, patches, and security enhancements to ensure a secure and up-to-date IT environment.Manage user accounts and permissions with systems like Active Directory, Azure AD, O365, Teams, SharePoint and various company-used applications.Install, maintain, and upgrade IT hardware and software as needed.Respond to and resolve workstation, application, and server related problems.Help monitor IT systems and report issues and anomalies to immediate supervisor.Report security incidents to immediate supervisor.IT inventory management : Keep track of hardware, software, and peripherals, ensuring proper documentation and timely replenishment as needed.Other Functions :
Collaboration and process improvement : Work closely with the IT team to identify recurring issues, improve processes, and contribute to the development of IT policies and procedures.Documentation and knowledge sharing : Develop user guides, knowledge base articles, and training materials to promote self-service and enhance user experience.Requirements :
Technical skills : Proficient in desktop and laptop support, Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic network troubleshooting.Problem-solving abilities : Ability to analyze and resolve technical issues independently, ensuring minimal disruption to user productivity.Excellent communication : Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.Customer service orientation : A proactive and customer-focused approach to IT support, with the ability to empathize and provide timely solutions.Time management : Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines effectively.Able to react to change productively, fast-paced environment, and handle other essential tasks as assigned.Work evenings, and on call as needed to assist with programmatic services.Attend external and internal program training and meetings when required.About Urban Strategies
