This position is not remote and requires daily on-site presence at our Corporate Headquarters in Chesterton, Indiana, except when traveling.
Urschel employee-owners design and manufacture industrial cutting equipment for food processing and allied industries around the world from our global headquarters located in Chesterton, Indiana, U.S.A. Consumers purchase goods manufactured on Urschel cutting equipment on a daily basis. Advanced manufacturing technologies are utilized at our climate controlled, clean, and environmentally conscious facility.

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, this position will provide leadership and team management to the purchasing team while ensuring efficiency and optimizing cost control. This includes managing and mentoring a team of Buyers, building strong supplier relationships, and conducting regular supplier performance reviews, including off-site visits. Collaborating effectively with Production and Engineering departments is key, as is driving continuous improvement within procurement processes. Keeping current with industry trends, purchasing best practices, and relevant software tools is expected, while also ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations.
Qualified applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field of study with a minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement. Strong leadership and team management skills are essential. Proven experience in supplier negotiations and cost reduction strategies is required. Proficiency in procurement software and reporting tools, along with excellent problem solving, analytical and communications skills, is also necessary.
