A Brief Overview

The Estimator uses computer technology and mathematical skill to prepare an estimation of the structural components required for a project in accordance with Company policies.

What You Will Do

• Estimate the materials needed for structural components of residential/commercial project according to company policy and local building code.
• Assist salesmen as needed with customer orders.
• Assist in quote process as requested.
• Provide information about wood structural components to contractors as needed.
• Train sales representatives in estimating techniques.
• Assist sales staff with blueprint reading and construction procedures.
• Review actual vs. estimated materials on completion of each project.
• Work in sales department as required.
• Control expenditures to conform to company budgetary requirements.
• Comply with Company’s attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.

Education Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in engineering or related area required.
  
  

Experience Qualifications

• 1-3 years construction and building materials related experience prefered.
  
  

Skills And Abilities

• Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials.
• Ability to interpret building plans in diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to operate networked computer systems and specialized software application programs and to instruct others in effective use of application software.
• Must have excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of measurements and basic math principles.
