Join our team. #CloroxIsThePlace Your role at Clorox: We are looking for a R&D Manager to lead a dynamic, collaborative team with an important role in the development of each and every product created by Clorox R&D. The Microbiology Group within AMS serves an essential role, building a strong connection with our business partners, providing technical guidance and microbiological expertise to current projects and sets the strategic direction to ensure the team is prepared to meet future business direction. You will partner with and deliver results for all Clorox Strategic Business Units (SBUs), including Retail Cleaning, Clorox Professional, Foods, Litter, Charcoal, Glad, Brita, Burt's Bees, and International. As the Manager, you will set the microbiology strategy to enable growth for every business within Clorox, partnering closely with multiple R&D groups including Product Development, Process, Package and other teams across all stages of the development life cycle from concept to commercialization. In this role, you will: Lead a team of up to 10 Microbiologists and Associate Scientists with responsibilities for coaching, development, technical rigor, and performance appraisal; fostering inclusion, diversity and engagement of the team while building bench strength and succession planning. Build strong connections with the Business Units on a strategic level and help them evolve and modernize their brands with a creative can-do mindset. Drive the microbiological expertise for Clorox R&D, with a forward-looking goal of identifying and championing new techniques, processes and organizational structure; leading continuous improvement in innovation and technology throughout R&D. Own the prioritization of projects within the Micro team to deliver business results and develop capabilities to our business customers. Prioritize and manage the accountability with external contract labs and preservative suppliers, fostering current relationships and building new relationships to set Clorox up for success in the future. What we look for: B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Science or Engineering required. 6 years of R&D consumer products or related experience. 2 years of people management experience. Strategic vision with the ability to propose, analyze, and articulate various scenarios for technical opportunities. Entrepreneurial / can-do mindset with a passion for continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes. Digitally savvy and proficient in microbiological work processes, including disinfection & sanitization claims and preservative efficacy. Demonstrated ability to lead a service organization in a large company: Ability to work within ambiguity and enable that skill in others Comfortable taking & managing risk Demonstrated creativity and passion for your customer High energy, positive drive, and commitment in setting and meeting aggressive goals; be able to influence leadership and peers. Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills, with ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to a variety of stakeholders.
