What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern, Baseball Operations - 18U National Team position at USA Baseball?
The 18U National Team represents the United States in international competitions at the U-18 level. USA Baseball will evaluate players at events, including the National High School Invitational, 17U National Team Championships in Arizona and North Carolina, Breakthrough Series, Hank Aaron Invitational, East Coast Pro, and Area Code Games–along with evaluation of data from the current season and other events–for selection to the National Team Training Camp. The MLB Draft Combine provides an opportunity for 300 Draft-eligible players, as identified by MLB Clubs, to participate in a series of medical and performance assessments as well as educational programming designed to prepare them for careers in professional baseball. All players will have the opportunity to participate in a pro-style showcase workout, as well as strength and performance assessments. Highschool players will also have the option to participate in a live game against other high school Combine attendees. To prepare for performance assessments conducted at the MLB Draft Combine, this intern will assist in supporting the day-to-day operations of USA Baseball and Major League Baseball’s Prospect Development Pipeline.

POSITION DETAILS
- Full-time hours (40 hours/week)
- Part-time hours through May; Full-time hours May -September (flexible start and end date)
- On-Site Hybrid
- Based in Cary, NC and primarily works events uses a flexible workspace in office as needed
- Domestic travel involved in this position (all travel costs covered by USA Baseball)

IN THIS ROLE
- You will assist the Director, 18U National Team, with administrative daily tasks and oversee day-to-day operations for all 18U National Team programming, including team travel, team meals, and equipment for players, coaches, and staff.
- You will communicate with National Team Training Camp and National Team participants and their families about all aspects of the events, including travel, equipment, and participant paperwork.
- You will assist with all administrative and operational needs for 18U National Team Training Camp and Training.
- You will support the coaching staff as needed in on-field activity, game preparation, and data/technology needs.
- You will assist with all team laundry and equipment during training and competition.
- You will provide administrative and operational assistance for additional USA Baseball events, including the National Team Championships and the National Team Identification Series (NTIS).
- You will collaborate with USA Baseball staff to assist with the operation of the MLB Draft Combine, National Team programming, and other organizational events.
- You will support other USA Baseball departments (e.g., alumni relations, merchandising, travel services) by performing various administrative and operational duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- You are highly organized with attention to detail and a passion for baseball operations.
- You are a problem-solver who is flexible and agile in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn new software platforms, such as League Apps.
- You have strong initiative to complete tasks in a timely fashion to advance the team’s overall progress.
- You have professional communication skills, both in person and via phone/email.
- You are able to establish and maintain relationships with various staff members, scouts, and coaches.
- You have a basic understanding of existing and emerging baseball technologies, including but not limited to Rapsodo, Trackman, Synergy, and Diamond Kinetics.
- You are flexible and willing to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, during USA Baseball events.
- You are in pursuit of or have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- You can successfully complete a background check prior to employment.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting on-field coaching activities, such as game preparation and utilizing baseball technologies.
