USEMCO, Inc. of Tomah, WI is looking to hire a part-time Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team. If you are seeking a position that has a flexible Monday through Friday schedule then this position is for you. Depending on skills and experience, the Accounts Payable Clerk earns $17.00 to $19.00 an hour, or BOE. Part-time employees are not eligible for benefits with the exception of 401(k) and 401(k) match after meeting the eligibility criteria.
USEMCO Inc. is a family-owned business that started in 1963 making pump stations, lift stations, control panels and specialty manufacturing of tanks used for water, chemical and petroleum products. We are an engineered product manufacturing company, servicing Municipal Water and Wastewater Industry, Electrical and Electronic Control Industry, Petroleum and Water Holding Industry, Trucking and Construction Industry.
JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of and reporting to the CFO, the Accounts Payable Clerk provides accounts payable services. The clerk also takes direction from the Bookkeeper.
The following are the essential responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Clerk.
- Enter only approved vendor invoices into the ERP system checking vendor information, quantities, and costs. Send cost discrepancies to purchasing for approval.
- Assign general ledger coding to vendor invoices using company guidelines.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Create and maintain files of open and paid invoices.
- File invoices and payments timely.
- Process vendor payments and answer vendor inquiries regarding payment.
- Communicate with vendors to resolve invoicing discrepancies.
- Research and document use taxability of purchases.
- Provide sales use tax documentation.
- Prepare sales tax exempt certificates upon vendor request.
- Balance accounts payable weekly to the general ledger.
- Request W-9 tax forms from vendors.
- Prepare annual 1099 tax forms.
- Prepare and complete basic Excel spreadsheets with formulas.
- Provide backup mail sorting and interoffice delivery, as required.
- Perform other related financial, administrative, and clerical support duties as necessary or assigned.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
- Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma along with one (1) year work experience in accounts payable or similar position. Basic knowledge of Excel is helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as accounts payable correspondence and bookkeeping related documents. Ability to write accounts payable related correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees and vendors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to make calculations and maintain and interpret documentation relating to accounts payable related processing.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- The employee must be able to maintain the confidentiality of all company matters. The employee must demonstrate a sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines. The employee should show attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors. The employee must possess good oral and written communication skills to discuss payment issues with vendors. The employee must also be able to operate a variety of office equipment such as a personal computer, computer printer, telephone, calculator, and photocopier. Ability and license to drive an automobile.
