USI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a motivated Environmental Specialist to grow with our Environmental Department. A successful candidate will be performing various facets of environmental compliance, including Waters of the U.S. Determinations, local, state, and federal permitting, along with NEPA Documentation, for diverse infrastructure projects. We are looking for a passionate environmental professional to grow with us!
Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations for water resources and complete associated Waters of the U.S. Reports
- Prepare and review relevant Local, State, and Federal permits including Section 404, Section 401, Construction General Stormwater Permits, and Construction in Floodway
- Prepare environmental compliance documents including State Environmental Assessments and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents
- Coordinate with design engineers over avoidance and minimization of project impacts to the human and natural environment
- Assist in the planning and execution of public involvement and outreach for projects
- Develop maps and graphics for use in environmental documents, permit applications, and during the public involvement process
Qualifications:
- In process to obtain a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Ecology or other related field
- Understanding of local, state and federal regulations in regards to infrastructure projects
- 0-5 years of experience in environmental compliance for infrastructure projects
- Strong communicator with enthusiasm, positive attitude, and desire to grow professionally
- Ability to work with various project types and comply with appropriate requirements
- Willingness to grow, maintain, and foster relationships with project stakeholders
- Strong technical writing and QC/QA abilities
- Collect, manage, and organize field data utilizing ArcGIS programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro and Civil 3D a plus
- INDOT NEPA/CE Training Certification is a plus
- IDNR/IDEM/USACE Permitting experience is a plus
- Plant identification and soil science knowledge is a plus
- Ability to analyze and interpret road and bridge design plans is a
