Job Summary
Maintains, optimizes, and produces departmental websites. Must have the ability to evaluate overall site performance in terms of usability, page speed, and search engine optimization. Requirements are: knowledge of WordPress (including options, configuration, and plugin installation); knowledge of WordPress plugins such as Advanced Custom Fields and Yoast SEO; knowledge of current web development languages and the ability to design responsive websites; familiarity with W3C accessibility standards and Google Analytics; willingness to navigate and learn API documentation to integrate with 3rd party services; assist with department efficiency by supporting and extending data pipeline for reporting processes. Develops and maintains a variety of applications that support the various efforts of the Office of Online Learning.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains various WordPress websites for and pertaining to the Office of Online Learning and/or Online at Southern Miss.
- Utilizes current web development languages and technologies (including, but not limited to, Yoast SEO, Advanced Custom Fields, and Vue 2.0) to ensure websites are responsive, optimized in terms of load time and search engine friendliness, and function seamlessly with the current CRM (Slate).
- Works closely with the marketing team and graphic designer to ensure web presence is in line with public relations, recruiting, and marketing efforts of the Department and the University.
- Create and maintain applications that streamline proctoring and support retention efforts.
- Support, maintain, and extend various software efforts that improve department efficiency.
- Provides technical support on problems involving hardware, Internet technologies, and multimedia.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
