Summary of position
The Tennis Professional develops, plans, and delivers tennis programs, lessons activities, camps, and events that meet the community need. The Tennis Professional works closely with a team of staff at the facility to ensure operational needs are being met and all standards of service are consistently upheld.
Essential Functions
Essential Duties
Program Development & Instruction:
- Works with staff team to develop a seasonal schedule of programs, lessons, and activities that meet ALL community needs.
- Assists in the planning and promotion of, and conducts, lessons, tennis clinics, tournaments, mixers, special events and programs, including Junior Team Tennis, adult beginner, adaptive and other community programming.
- Works alongside tennis instructors to ensure all programs are delivered according to USTA Florida standards, providing mentorship and guidance to other instructors, when needed.
- Provides tennis instruction to all levels of players and implements curriculum by facilitating/instructing play according to USTA Florida standards and guidelines (on and off site as directed).
- Serves as the Tournament Director for all events, adhering to USTA Florida tournament regulations.
- Conducts outreach to promote play throughout the community.
Customer Service & Operations:
- Ensures proper charging of fees and rental of equipment.
- Inspects courts/facilities on a daily basis prior to the start of play, ensures all necessary housekeeping/maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working condition.
- Oversees and maintains equipment, including set up and tear-down.
- Ensure compliance with all safety rules and reports any notable concerns, incidents and safety hazards to USTA Florida and the Director of Tennis/Head Tennis professional.
- Adheres to objectives and goals of USTA Florida Section and its Tennis Management department.
- Proficiently uses all aspects of tennisdirector.com and ServeTennis software and USTA Florida Section forms and policies.
- Performs other job-related duties as requested.
- Provides input and feedback on staff performance, focusing on professional development and service.
- Reconciles daily revenue and banking deposits, tracks inventory and equipment requirements, prepares reports and makes recommendations to maintain a first-class tennis facility and operation.
- Assists with collecting content for Marketing and Promotions.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three years of experience as Tennis Professional at a similar size tennis facility (head tennis professional preferred)
- Three years of customer service experience in a similar environment
- USPTA or PTR Certified (Dual preferred)
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED preferred
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a record that meets our company’s insurance standards
- Must have the ability to travel
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, Excel, Office 365, and Outlook
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must have a professional and positive attitude
- Must be able to pass the USTA Safe Play and USTA FL Section background checks
- Must be able to participate in potentially strenuous physical activity
