Essential Job Functions:
As a snowmaking Crew Lead, you will bring your previous snowmaking experience to the position while assisting with laying the groundwork for another epic ski season. You will be striving for quality, safety, and efficiency to ensure an exceptional experience for our guests. The Crew Lead will also assist with day-to-day operations in the safe production of a suitable snow surface and will work as a team member while supervising other snowmakers. The Crew Lead must demonstrate and be able teach proper snow quality checks, snow gun adjustments, assembly and operation of all types of snow guns, and equipment placement on trails.
In this job, you will be working long hours, overnights and exposed to the elements. This important role is critical to getting the ski season up and running. During a typical shift you will ride chair lifts or drive snowmobiles along ski trails to reach snow equipment, attach hoses from snow equipment to nozzles of above-ground outlets for underground compressed air and water pipelines and move/dig out hoses and snow guns buried under snow. Knowledge of, and comfort with tools is important when performing general maintenance on the snow making equipment. You will return defective or frozen snow equipment to compressor room for repair, using a snowmobile. Periodically you will be responsible for repositioning the equipment of direct snowfall to other sections of trail, or close valves to shut off equipment when snow coverage is completed. While cleaning dirt and frozen snow from equipment, you will be using hand tools. You will be responsible for your personal safety, the safety of our guests and fellow employees.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate a variety of construction equipment including backhoe, forklift, oxyacetylene welding torch, welding machine, pipe threaded, hand tools and other related tools in order to complete maintenance and repair duties
- Maintaining a safe work environment
- Conduct performance evaluations on snowmakers
- Conduct proper training for employees
- Work to maximize the production of the most efficient snow possible
- Work with other Crew Leads to resolve and issues that may arise
- Perform pipefitting and plumbing by cutting, threading and welding pipe
- Utilizes welding and metal fabricating skills in order to repair items not directly related to pumps and compressors
Requirements:
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable MRV record (MVR check will be required before starting work) - Required
- Three seasons of experience in snowmaking - Required
- Knowledge of basic mechanical equipment, electronic drive systems and controls - Required
- Able to hike rugged terrain at altitude in all mountain weather conditions - Required
- High School diploma or equivalent - Required
- Must be at least 18 years of age - Required
- Able to work without supervision - Required
- Able to work outside in physically demanding winter conditions of any kind during 12 hour shifts - Required
- Demonstrate excellent verbal skills in English - Required
- Able to lift, pull, or drag 75lbs and stand for long periods of time - Required
- Able to work weekend, holiday and overnight shifts - Required
- Must be available to work from the beginning of October 2014 through December or January 2015, if the snowmaking season is extended - Required
- Basic computer skills - Preferred
