Vala's Pumpkin Patch & Apple Orchard is hiring a mechanic to assist in maintaining farm equipment and vehicles. Located in Gretna, Nebraska, Vala's is one of the largest pick-your-own pumpkin patches in the world, spanning 400 acres and including over 50 attractions.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in small engine work and is versed in all aspects of two (2) and four (4) stroke diagnostics and repair. Familiarity with the following brands is a plus: Honda, Briggs and Stratton, Tecumseh, Stihl, John Deere, Redmax, and Scag. The mechanic will maintain a professional and positive culture throughout the company. This candidate will be a resourceful problem solver with experience utilizing a variety of equipment, machines, and farm vehicles.
This is an hourly, full time, year round position. Hours vary due to the seasonal nature of the business but are based on a 2,500 hour per year schedule. Nights and weekends during the fall season when Vala's is open to the public are required.

You will maintain quality and safety throughout the farm, ensuring all vehicles and equipment are up to operational standard.

- Perform routine and preventative maintenance and repairs on lawn and garden equipment
- Manage a fleet of John Deere Gators, ensuring these vehicles receive all maintenance in a timely and routine manner
- Responsible for the maintenance and set up of Tin Lizzies (small go-cart type cars) used for farm ride
- Responsible for the repair of pedal carts used in farm attraction
- Assist the Mechanic team with routine repairs and general maintenance, as needed
- Follow Safety Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures
- Document maintenance work performed accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain equipment and tools in good operating condition
- Additional job duties may be assigned based on business needs
- Experience in mig welding, using torch and other basic shop equipment
- Demonstrated ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Knowledge of vehicle and equipment components, diagnostics, and repairs
- Valid driver's license
- Able to walk, stand, reach and bend for extended periods
- Able to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions based on business needs and time of year
