Job Overview
Maintain and troubleshoot the Honeywell DCS system to ensure efficient operation of the refinery.
- Troubleshoot and maintain DCS systems, including control schemes, graphics, and tags, to resolve performance issues and optimize process control.
- Provide daily support to operations units, ensuring timely resolution of control system-related issues.
- Collaborate with operations and process engineering teams to develop and implement process control strategies and techniques.
- Analyze and diagnose controller performance issues, including PID loop tuning, to improve overall system efficiency.
- Conduct alarm reviews with operations teams to support corporate alarm rationalization initiatives.
- Support project engineers in executing control scheme development projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Maintain and enhance advanced process control programs, communicating performance metrics to process engineering and operations teams.
- Develop and update control-related documentation to ensure accurate and timely information sharing.
- Work closely with instrumentation maintenance personnel to troubleshoot plant issues and optimize equipment performance.
- Present complex information effectively to various stakeholders, including operations, maintenance, and management teams.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.
- Interpret a variety of instructions, including written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based formats.
- Read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other relevant work documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.

- Be willing and able to work on-site at the Valero Benicia Refinery.
- Hold a Bachelor's or higher degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Control Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- possess 5 years of engineering experience in a petroleum refinery, with a focus on process control and control systems engineering.
- Process engineering experience is preferred, as is prior experience with DCS control systems.
