Job Summary
The IT Support Specialist provides comprehensive technical support to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring the seamless operation of the organization’s technology infrastructure. Key responsibilities include maintaining and troubleshooting hardware, software, and classroom technology and assisting with learning management system (LMS) integration and password management. The specialist configures and manages network systems, supports online learning platforms, and trains users on essential software. They also set up devices for new employees, address Wi-Fi and phone service issues, implement cybersecurity measures, automate processes with basic scripting languages, and contribute to reliable and efficient IT systems.
Network Administration
· Configure, manage, and troubleshoot VLANs to ensure optimal network segmentation and performance.
· Install, maintain, and monitor network switches, routers, and wireless access points.
· Implement and maintain firewalls and security measures to protect the school’s network.
· Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues promptly.
Device and System Management
· Maintain, repair, and upgrade computer systems, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
· Provide software support for educational and administrative tools (e.g., Office 365, student information systems).
· Manage user accounts and permissions in Active Directory or equivalent systems.
· Perform regular updates, backups, and patches on all systems and devices.
Helpdesk Support
· Respond to technical support requests from staff and students promptly and professionally.
· Provide training and guidance on technology usage and best practices.
· Document recurring issues and propose long-term solutions.
Infrastructure Development
· Plan, document, and maintain accurate cable mapping for network infrastructure.
· Organize and manage cable installations to ensure proper labeling and neatness.
· Inspect and troubleshoot cable connections for continuity and performance.
· Assist in deploying network expansions and hardware upgrades.
Cybersecurity
· Monitor and address security threats, including phishing attempts and malware infections.
· Educate staff and students on safe technology practices and data protection.
Scripting and Automation
· Use basic scripting languages like JavaScript or PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.
· Develop and maintain scripts for system management, user provisioning, and data backups.
· Troubleshoot and debug scripts to resolve issues and enhance functionality.
Job Specifications
Required Qualifications
· An associate degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field (or 4 years of equivalent experience).
