We are currently seeking to hire a Payroll Specialist with general administrative experience for our Sacramento, California location.
Position Overview
This role is responsible for processing payroll for both office staff (hourly and salaried) and union technicians, ensuring compliance with certified payroll/prevailing wage reporting, and union-specific deductions and fringe benefits.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with ADP Workforce and Viewpoint Construction Software, strong knowledge of payroll regulations, and the ability to handle administrative duties efficiently.
Responsibilities
Payroll Processing:
- Process payroll for office employees (hourly and salaried) and union technicians.
- Ensure compliance with union regulations, including certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting.
- Calculate and process deductions and fringe benefits for union technicians.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and generate necessary reports.
- Work with accounting and HR to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Union & Compliance:
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for union technicians.
- Manage prevailing wage documentation and ensure compliance with government contracts.
- Process fringe benefits and union-specific deductions accurately.
- Stay updated on payroll regulations and union agreements.
Administrative Support:
- Assist with HR and benefits administration, including new hire paperwork and employee record maintenance.
- Support general office administration tasks, such as maintaining records and assisting with audits.
- Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Preferred Skills
- 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in construction or a unionized workforce.
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce and Viewpoint Construction Software is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of certified payroll (LCP Tracker), prevailing wage laws, and union payroll requirements.
- Experience with payroll tax compliance and benefit deductions.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience in the construction industry or similar field.
- Knowledge of union agreements and reporting requirements.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with employees and management professionally.
