Valley Outdoor Design is looking for candidates to fill the position of Landscape Maintenance Foreman. This is a key leadership position in which the Maintenance Foreman is working in the field leading a crew of 3-4 people, which includes themselves, in day-to-day landscape maintenance operations. This position is responsible for interacting with clients on the jobsite and providing high-quality customer service to them. They should be knowledgeable of horticulture and landscape maintenance practices to perform the proper practices in servicing commercial and residential properties and gardens. This position will regularly make use of different types of machinery and be able to use them safely and effectively, such as but not limited to, dump trucks, mowers, trimmers, skidsteer, etc. While leading their crew on site they will communicate instructions and information to their crew members to execute the task at hand. The right candidate will be someone with at least one year of experience in a comparable position, is efficient, and most importantly fun to work with!
Role Responsibilities:
- Maintain reliable attendance at work
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Make use of the ConnectTeam app to make daily reports of working hours, equipment hours, materials used etc.
- Maintaining assigned crew tools and machinery
- Provide clear direction and communication to your crew members and give training to crew members as needed
- Mow lawns neatly maintaining clean, straight lines
- Ensure all areas of sites are clean after mowing and service, i.e. blowing off driveways, parking lots, walkways
- Be able to operate up to and including a 1 ton dump truck with or without a trailer
- Operate zero turn lawn mowers
- Operate weed whackers, backpack blowers, and other small engine equipment
- Lift up to 75lbs., such as wheel barrows and stones
- Responsible for actions and work of your assigned crew
Additional Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform snow removal services during winter months
- Look for issues at sites such as pests and diseases, drainage issues, etc. and report them to Company Owners
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have at least 1 year of experience in a comparable position
- Have knowledge of horticulture and plant care
- Candidates must have an insurable driving record, and either have or obtain a DOT medical card
- Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation to Merrimac, MA
