The Supply Planning COE is responsible for building and maintaining a digital representation of the physical supply chain for both Valvoline owned facilities and key third parties worldwide. The model must be dynamic, real-time and time-phased representation of the various associations between the data objects that ultimately make up how the physical supply chain operates. These models will be used to enable the creation of an optimized global supply plan, for the short- and medium-term horizon. The supply plan must ensure continuous and efficient supply of finished goods (FG) products to customers, using a minimum amount of inventory to maximize efficiency targets, minimize working capital costs and conserve cash by managing stock levels.

How You’ll Make An Impact

Responsibilities Include
- OMP Development and Deployment: Lead development of Valvoline global supply planning models and processes. Identify and model critical production steps including, but not limited to, hot box, blending, filling, loading/unloading, and chemical reactions, new to Valvoline, at all company owned facilities and key third parties globally. Design “what-if” scenario capabilities to make informed strategic decisions on important issues including production mix, inventory and constraint management, and supply disruption at Valvoline facilities or key suppliers globally. Lead development, testing, training and deployment of supply planning in all regions, including VCPL. Critical member of the OMP leadership team.
- Team Capabilities Development: Lead and develop a high-performing, talented and diverse global supply planning team. Support the hiring, training and onboarding of new supply planners on overall process. Define the competency model and assessment for supply planning roles.
- Technology Capabilities Development: Lead technology upgrade projects for supply planning. Drive operational efficiencies and financial returns both globally and regionally by continuously improving Valvoline’s models. Lead cross functional teams with business partners in Operations, Engineering, Accounting, Finance and IT to evaluate enhancements to Valvoline systems for modeling plant adsorption and inventory. Design and build automation to streamline operations planning and provide more consistent models for financial planning. Explore machine learning to potentially improve supply planning models.
- Operational Agility Development: Make the best “what, where, and when” production, procurement, and distribution decisions to optimize the deployment of resources, utilization of materials, and allocation of inventory in existing Valvoline network by developing “what-if” scenario models. Assess/evaluate financial impacts associated with risks and opportunities in existing network. Develop business continuity plans for Valvoline.
- Organizational Capabilities Development: Work with all SCP COEs to ensure the planning organization has the right processes, knowledge and capabilities in order to deliver effectively from the strategy/initiative conception to the execution. Identify modifications to business practices to take full advantage of technology innovation.
- Measurement and continuous improvement: Lead KIP development for S&OE and S&OP for supply-planning activities and outputs, orchestrate corrective action when needed.
- Role needs to establish relationship with key roles in manufacturing operations leadership and through other process owners and COEs:
- Demand planning
- Customer service
- Manufacturing operations
- Global sourcing/procurement
- Product managers
- Supply planners (FG, material requirements and production planning)
- S&OP leaders and practitioners
- Executive leaders
- Finance (cost/inventory)
- External contacts include key vendors globally.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree, majoring in engineering, supply chain management or similar field.
- A certification in supply chain from APICS and/or IBF.
- Experience in end-to-end supply chain.
- Ten years of experience in supply planning and/or operations management.
- Four years of experience leading supply planning.
- Proven success in leading teams or processes.
- Proven track record of successfully working with all levels within an organization.
- Experience working with external clients.
- A master’s degree in business, engineering, or supply chain management.
The position will require the following two elements:
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing operations, including the ability to read engineering drawings.
- Deep knowledge in planning processes: demand planning, supply planning, new products introduction, material planning and S&OP process.
- Builds excellent relationships with key internal and external customers based on trust and confidence.
