Aircraft Assembly Supervisor

Van’s Aircraft, a pioneer in the aerospace kit planes industry, is seeking an experienced Aircraft Assembly Supervisor. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, safety, quality, and productivity within our assembly operations. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring the performance of a multi-station production environment while collaborating across departments to achieve organizational goals.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept:

• Supervise, train, and mentor a team of assembly technicians, fostering a culture of responsibility, discipline, and empowerment.
• Provide clear work assignments, monitor performance, and maintain a positive, compliant work environment.
• Conduct performance evaluations, make hiring decisions, and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Ensure all assembly activities meet established quality standards, safety protocols, and deadlines.
• Coordinate daily tasks to align with production schedules and organizational goals.
• Oversee the accurate interpretation and application of work instructions, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in quality, throughput, and assembly processes.
• Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and quality concerns using root cause analysis techniques.
• Partner with internal teams on process improvement projects and promote adherence to lean manufacturing principles.
• Oversee the resolution of customer quality issues, collaborating with engineering and quality assurance teams.
• Lead prejob briefs and postjob reviews to ensure alignment with customer expectations.
• Maintain a safe and organized workspace, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
• Manage inventory levels to ensure the availability of critical components for uninterrupted assembly operations.
• Develop and enforce production schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines and minimizing delays.
• Monitor and optimize workstation layouts and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Collaborate with the supply chain team to address material shortages and implement contingency plans.
• Track and analyze production metrics to identify trends and drive datadriven decisionmaking.
• Support the implementation of new technologies and equipment to enhance production capabilities.
• Ensure that assembly documentation is accurate and uptodate to reflect current practices and standards.
  
  

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

• 5 years in assembly or manufacturing leadership, preferably in aerospace or related industries.
• Handson experience in mechanical assembly and precision craftsmanship, including using tools, gauges, and inspection equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation, blueprints, and assembly instructions.
• Competence in using software tools such as Microsoft Office and ERP systems for reporting and communication.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fastpaced environment.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.

Work Environment:

This position operates within a factory setting where personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. The role involves standing for extended periods, manual handling of parts up to 50 pounds. Temperatures may vary, with elevated heat in summer and cooler conditions in winter. The ability to cope with job-related stressors and maintain defined performance levels is essential.
