Primary Duties & Essential Functions:
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports for use by program managers, senior management and the Board of Directors. Assist program managers in understanding their financial results and making recommendations on efficiencies.
- Ensure accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with industry standards.
- Ensure a timely monthly closing and reporting process, including the review and/or preparation of monthly journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Responsible for the coordination of all audits and resolution of audit findings.
- Prepare annual financial statements and required agency cost reports (NYS CFR, SSOP).
- Work with the CFO and Program Managers to develop the agency budget.
- Develop industry expertise in the areas of Medicaid, State Education (SED), Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
- Work with the CFO to develop rate analysis tools to maximize reimbursement across all programs.
- Continually looks to improve systems, processes, policies, procedures and technology.
- Protect assets by establishing, improving, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Validate existing cost allocation methodology and ensure process is being done efficiently.
- Oversee the purchasing department. Select and implement a new purchasing system.
- Validate existing grant management process and ensure timely reporting.
- Optimize cash management and coordinate the deployment of cash with senior management.
- Responsible for the supervision of agency business office: currently two Senior Accountants, Staff Accountant, Payroll Administrator, Revenue Analyst, Accounts Payable Specialist, and Procurement Specialist. Provide evaluations, mentoring and coaching.
- Leadership of team results in high performance, morale and excellent customer/client service.
- Work collaboratively with Human Resources to review, monitor and implement systems and procedures for all retirement plans and ensure timely and accurate reporting of 5500’s.

- Oversee the agency payroll system (UKG), and be able to backup the payroll administrator when needed.
- Will be actively involved in any possible mergers or acquisitions for the agency.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external business partners such as financial institutions, insurance brokers, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in accounting and/or finance. Not for profit-human service sector experience preferred.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience and financial management.
- Knowledge of New York State agency financial reporting requirements and procedures (OCFS/OPWDD/SED/OMH/DOH).
- Experience in foundation, government grants, and fundraising.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications - highly proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Extensive experience and administration of general ledger systems (FundEZ preferred).
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of management.
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information.
Hours: Monday-Friday
Salary: $90,000-$120,000
