Qualifications:
The candidate will assume a variety of responsibilities in support of the elemental analysis (ICP/ICPMS) and separation MS (GPC/GC/LC/IC) groups within *** Analytical Sciences Laboratories located in Experimental Stations, Wilmington, DE. The candidate will work under the direction of technical staff to provide analytical support for R&D, TS&D and Manufacturing as needed.
Key job responsibilities include:
- Preparation of samples, reagents and standards for elemental analysis (ICP/ICPMS) and separation MS (GPC/GC/LC/IC), following a standard procedure (wet chemistry, microwave digestion)
- Data acquisition and assessing basic data quality
- Perform routine instrument (ICP/GPC/GC/LC in particular) operation and maintenance
- Dispose of lab waste and other lab maintenance following a set protocol
- Cleaning and restocking lab areas as needed
- Purchases routine lab supplies and reagents
- Retrieve, move and connect/disconnect cylinders for the purpose of analysis
- Work safely at all times and ensure a safety culture and a safe working environment in the laboratory.
Qualifications:
- Skills in sample preparation and experience with a variety of lab equipment in a chemical laboratory setting are highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with common Elemental Analysis sample preparation methods such as acid digestion including use of HF and open/closed vessel microwave-assisted digestions.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office software.
- Prior experience in ICP/ICPMS and GPC/LC/GC/MS is highly preferred but is not a requirement.
- Prior experience in industrial analytical lab is a plus.
- An ability to work well with other people under tight timelines and conflicting priorities is critical.
