Our customers are auto repair and collision locations as well as new and used dealerships, where we provide management systems, payment services, communications tools, scheduling modules as well as accounting and finance packages.
Greater Sum Ventures is an entrepreneurial growth equity firm that invests in lower-middle market tech-enabled business services companies. The founders and management team of GSV have a proven track record of executing a roll-up strategy.
It is Greater Sum Ventures goal to repeat its prior success through organic growth and the acquisition of vertically focused SaaS companies that fit their eco-system of products. To accomplish this goal, GSV has developed a vertical software company focused on the automotive after-market: Vehlo.
Our Director of IT role will report to the Vehlo CPTO, and will ideally be in our Knoxville TN office, although remote work is also a possibility in the right circumstance.
Key results for the position include:
- Oversee all technology operations (e.g. IT Operations, Security) and evaluate them according to established goals
- Lead a Service team tasked to provide end-user support of company endpoint devices and applications, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and others.
- Ensure security through administration of key security applications, including end-user training application, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR Tool), and DNS.
- Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management
- Develop and enhance information security management framework
- Coordinate NIST and Cyber compliance testing, remediation and documentation
- Analyze and action cost optimization opportunities (e.g. vendor price negotiation, hosting cost reduction/consolidation, etc)
- Create and regularly test incident response process
- Lead the strategy, development, and execution of migrating productivity applications (e.g. O365, Zoom) across our portfolio of brands
- Analyze, identify and recommend new technology solutions that can be implemented in all departments
- Purchase efficient and cost effective technological equipment and software
- Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
- Control budget and report on expenditure
- Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts
- Work with our AWS MSP and Vehlo DevOps team to implement security tools within the company cloud infrastructure.
- Participate in IT related projects and tasks as directed.

The requirements of the role are:
- Bachelors, Associate, or Technical degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies, or related field.
- 8-12 years of experience working in a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of Office 365 and mobile operating systems and proven ability to configure and install workstations, peripheral equipment, hardware and software; provide end-user training and support.
- Excellent troubleshooting and research skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective communication and presentation to stakeholders and to assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative team spirit, able to manage and work with team members at all levels of the organization.
