We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to lead our revenue cycle team. Duties
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
- Process medical billing claims to ensure timely reimbursement from insurance companies.
- Maintain and update patient records with precision, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding.
- Conduct medical collections as necessary, following up on unpaid claims and resolving billing issues.
- Utilize various medical office systems to track billing processes and patient information effectively.
- Stay informed about changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
- Works assigned claims that have not been paid from a list and ensures claims are clean for submission and re-submission to the insurance carriers.
- Completes the Appeals process to assist in the collection of all money due to the practice for medical services provided.
Requirements
MUST have a medical billing and coding degree with at least 2 years working in a medical billing and coding department.
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding, with a strong grasp of medical terminology.
- Familiarity with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems is essential.
- Experience in a medical office setting is required, demonstrating knowledge of medical collection processes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- This is an In-Office position, M-F, 8:30-5, 40 hours weekly
