Job Summary:
The Sleep Technologist is responsible for performing overnight and daytime polysomnographic and related diagnostic testing to support the evaluation, and management of patients with sleep disorders participating in clinical studies. This includes preparing equipment, monitoring data, ensuring patient safety, and generating preliminary reports for investigator review.
Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct overnight and daytime sleep studies, including polysomnography, CPAP/BiPAP titration, MSLT, and MWT
- Prepare and calibrate equipment, apply electrodes and sensors, and ensure high-quality data acquisition
- Monitor patient safety and comfort throughout studies, intervening as needed to resolve technical or clinical issues
- Document procedures, events, and observations in accordance with clinical protocols
- Score sleep studies and generate summaries in preparation for investigator interpretation
- Maintain compliance with all applicable standards, including AASM, HIPAA, and facility protocols
- Assist in equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and quality assurance activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of clinical trial data collection, GCP guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical research setting.
- Primarily overnight shifts; occasional daytime studies or meetings.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a health-related field preferred
- Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited polysomnography program required
- Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) strongly preferred
- BLS certification required
- Previous experience in sleep diagnostics or neurodiagnostics preferred
- Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently during overnight shifts
