Job Summary
The Human Resources Manager will oversee all human resources functions for the manufacturing facility while ensuring compliance with union agreements and fostering positive labor relations. This position requires strong knowledge of labor laws, employee relations, compensation, benefits, recruitment, and training, specifically in a unionized manufacturing environment.
This position will report directly to the CHRO and manage the site HR Generalist(s).
Primary Responsibilities

Union Relations & Labor Compliance:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, including conflict resolutions, grievances and disciplinary actions.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with union representatives and employees to foster open communication and collaboration.
- Assist in the negotiation of the collective bargaining agreement and ensure that contract terms are implemented effectively.
- Analyze and interpret the labor union contract, addressing any questions or issues that arise.
- Investigate and resolve grievances in accordance with union agreements and company policy.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, union agreements, and company policies.
- Provide guidance on discipline, arbitration, and mediation processes in collaboration with CHRO.
- Assist in organizing and preparing for union contract negotiations, including gathering and analyzing relevant data.
- Implement and manage performance appraisal systems to ensure fair and effective evaluations.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and management in addressing performance-related issues.

Employee Relations:
- Foster a positive, respectful, and productive work environment by handling employee concerns, complaints, and conflict resolution.
- Promote open communication between employees and management to prevent and address workplace issues.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints or concerns and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Recruitment & Staffing:
- Partner with the Talent Acquisition Specialist by overseeing the recruitment and hiring processes for hourly and salaried employees.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with employment agencies, educational institutions, and other sources for potential candidates.
- Ensure timely and effective onboarding of new hires, including union-related documentation and processes.

Training & Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees and management on topics such as labor relations, safety, compliance, and company policies.
- Work with supervisors and managers to identify training needs and recommend development opportunities to enhance employee performance.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in collaboration with the safety team.
- Ensure all HR processes comply with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) are a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3-5 years of experience working directly with unions is desired.
- Extensive experience in collective bargaining, union grievances, and contract negotiation is desired.
- Proven track record in employee relations, conflict resolution, and labor management.
Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of labor laws, including the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), FMLA, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
- Strong understanding of union contracts, grievances, arbitrations, and union-management negotiations is desired.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency in HRIS, Microsoft Office Suite, and other HR-related software.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Some travel may be required for site visits or meetings.
- Will be in an office environment and traveling environment requiring the ability to sit, stand, walk, talk and listen for extended periods of time. Minimal climbing, lifting and bending.
Working Conditions
- This position will involve both office and floor-based work within a manufacturing facility.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
Compensation
Range: $103,000 - $120,000 annually (bonus potential for achieving performance goals.)
Salary offers will vary and will be determined by the candidates work experience, education, skills, and certifications.
