Description

We are looking for a Program Specialist in Masontown, PA. As the Program Specialist, you would be working with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. In this critical, role you are the primary advocate for each individual assigned.

The Program Specialist for the CLA- ATF develops, supervises, and coordinates each Individual Support Plan (ISP) for the individuals assigned; ensure that all medical concerns are addressed, completes assessments, identifies strengths, needs, likes and preferences, as well as dislikes, for each individual. This is a salaried exempt position and reports to the Program Specialist Manager. This is an 24/7 on call position.

Contributions

  • Secure all necessary services to ensure all individuals’ needs are being met as specified in the individuals’ ISPs.
  • Complete all necessary documentation associated with the ISPs and the ISP Process (invitations to ISP meetings, development and implementation of the ISP, documentation of the review and revision of the ISP, content discrepancy of the ISP), etc., to meet all State licensing requirements to include 33b 1-19 regarding plan lead.
  • Make recommendations to revise a service or outcome in the ISP.
  • Ensure all content is included in the ISP (protocol for social, emotional, environmental plan, protocol for restrictive procedures plans, etc.).
  • Provide assessment to the Supports Coordinator or plan lead at least 30 days prior to the ISP meeting.
  • Utilize the Interdisciplinary Team process in all situations that will impact upon the ISP.
  • Supervise the Staff at the ATF.
  • Complete MAR reviews and practicums timely.
  • Must be fluent on all assigned individuals’ ISPs.
  • Provide hands-on training and training on the individuals’ ISPs to staff.
  • Participate in 24 hours of annual in-servicing as required by governing regulations.
  • Participate in staff orientation.
  • Complete census weekly.
  • Create monthly calendar of events for Day Program to follow.
  • Complete fire drills monthly and yearly in-service.
  • Balance petty cash receipts monthly.
  • Complete all risk management concerns and follow up
  • Maintain CPS percentage procedures.
  • May access only the minimum information that is necessary to perform the job and will comply with Verland’s privacy practices.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance, Quality Initiatives, and Quality Management.
  • Perform related duties upon request.

Requirements

  • Must possess knowledge of current practices and regulations in the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
  • Must have effective verbal and written skills necessary to both communicate with individuals and staff and to prepare necessary written documentation.
  • Must be able to effectively monitor individual programming, providing hands-on implementation and staff training.
  • Must possess the ability and empathy needed to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees, supervisory staff, Base Service Units, families of the individuals, and our co-representative.
  • Must demonstrate leadership and organizational skills.

Minimum Training And Experience

  • Have all required clearances and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have specialized training or one year’s experience in treating or working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and must possess one of the following:
  • A master’s degree from an accredited college and one year’s experience working directly with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities;
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and two years’ experience working directly with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities;
  • An associate’s degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college and four years’ experience working directly with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
