OUR TEAM IS LOOKING FOR AN IT SPECIALIST!
Position Overview:
The IT Specialist’s primary role is to provide support to our staff across our many veterinary hospital locations and our corporate headquarters. Veterinary United has more than 500 team members and 25 locations encompassing Veterinary Hospitals, Boarding Centers, and our corporate headquarters. They will work directly with the Director of Technology and other IT team members to support our growing technology initiatives in a high-volume ticket environment.
Hours:
Full-time position, Monday through Friday, with weekend on-call coverage alternating between IT Department team members.
Environment:
This is an in-office role, with travel to external veterinary medical sites to conduct any physical support when necessary.
Responsibilities:
Our IT Specialist Team Member will:
- Install PCs and computer-related equipment (monitors, network switches, etc.).
- Travel to our multiple in-state veterinary hospitals.
- Record logs of work done and resolutions into the support ticketing system.
- Perform remote and in-person diagnostics for satellite veterinary offices.
- Troubleshoot network-related issues for wireless and wired networks.
- Assist with updating and preparation of PCs for installation.
- Conduct repair and replacement of computer and server hardware.
- Assist with IT inventory tracking through auditing and data entry.
- Train end users on proper use of technologies such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Basecamp, and other related tools.
- Occasionally lift and move computer equipment, sometimes up to 50 lbs.
- Collaborate with IT department team members and the organization to implement IT initiatives and project solutions.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field, or commensurate experience.
- At least 3 years of IT experience with the ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with common operating systems such as macOS, Microsoft Windows, iOS, and Android.
- Strong problem-solving skills related to technology and common computer issues.
- Experience in computer networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Knowledge and experience with IT information security standards, telecom, and VOIP protocols.
- Knowledge of hardware components, peripheral devices, and system troubleshooting.
- Experience with Windows Domains, Active Directory, Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365 Online Management, and firewalls.
- Comfort and familiarity with automation systems and/or automation implementation.
- Ability to adapt to, and learn, new software systems quickly on the job.
- Excellent communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Excellent customer service orientation and a proactive approach to support.
- IT experience in the field of veterinary or human healthcare preferred.
Advanced Certifications (Preferred):
CompTIA A , CompTIA Network , CISSP, CCNA, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or similar IT certifications.
