PARK RANGER

Description

The Village of Glendale Heights is seeking four (4) seasonal Park Rangers.  This position will provide on-site patrols and enforces rules, regulations and ordinances relating to park usage by patrolling park areas.  Also provides park users/patrons education and is front-line public relations to those in the parks.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions

Works with the public to be sure that rules and regulations are being followed in basketball courts, Skate Park, splash pad, play grounds, gazebo, cricket pitches, soccer fields, ball fields and other areas of the Village’s major parks.  Assists with rentals to be sure that all requirements have been met and that facilities are clean and ready for use.  Enforces rental agreements and field usage agreements across many Village parks.

Performs custodial work as required for outdoor parks and grounds facilities such as changing light bulbs, pick up litter, dump garbage and reline trash cans, and similar custodial tasks.  Set up and takes down equipment for various park and recreation programs, prepares facilities for program use.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee will operate a variety of common hand tools of parks and grounds; operate motorized vehicles and equipment, including golf carts, pickup trucks, utility trucks; operate mobile radios and telephones.  Requires a valid Illinois State driver’s license.

Qualifications

Pay rate is $18.00 hourly.  This is a seasonal, non-exempt position.
