The Village of South Elgin is a dynamic organization serving a community of roughly 24,000 residents in the far western suburbs of Chicago. We are seeking an experienced, friendly, multi-tasking individual for the full-time position of Customer Service Specialist in the Administrative Services Department. Under the supervision of the Utility Billing & Customer Service Manager, this position performs a variety of routine clerical and administrative work, with heavy emphasis on providing excellent customer service to residents and visitors at Village Hall. The position is responsible for welcoming the public, answering general Village questions, and serving as a cashier for various Village payments, including utility payments. The successful candidate will be punctual, courteous, eager to learn, and able utilize his/her excellent verbal communication skills to provide accurate and detailed information about Village services.
Qualifications include graduation from high school or GED equivalent; one to three years of experience in a general office and customer service setting or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidate is preferred.
Normal work hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The Village offers an excellent compensation and benefit package with a starting salary of $25.67 per hour. The salary range for this position is $25.67 - $33.49 per hour.
