Service Technician Job Description
Summary of Purpose:As a Service Technician for Village Tractor & Repair, you will be part of a maintenance enterprise. You will utilize equipment and materials to maximize your productivity. You will provide outstanding customer satisfaction by ensuring equipment is properly maintained and repaired. You will work closely with the Shop Foreman to help build a profitable location with your service and maintenance knowledge.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform tractor builds, repairs, and deliveries.
- Maintain paperwork of work performed in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis.
- Ensure quality, timely completion of work, and control of materials.
- Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in tractors.
- Practice safe work habits and use personal protective equipment as required.
- Maintain shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
- Order supplies and maintain accurate records.
- Recommend replacement of existing equipment.
- Follow shop procedures and policies.
- When required, travel to service calls for repair/maintenance of equipment on site.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Maintain the shop, shop vehicle, and parking lot in a clean and professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of tractor diagnostics, repair and maintenance processes.
- Capable of diagnosing, repairing, and replacing engine components
- Proficient in the repair of all major power and drive train components
- Be able to read and interpret technical manuals
- Must have adequate computer skills to perform duties assigned.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position
- Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal/written communication skills.
- Shows initiative, seeks increased responsibilities, asks for and offers help.
- Must have knowledge of Wisconsin DNR Hazardous Waste requirements.
Experience:
2 years of experience in diesel engine/tractor repair.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School diploma or equivalent, trade school degree a plus.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Equipment Used:
Small hand tools, drills, air-powered tools, torch, jack, lift equipment, vehicle diagnostic, repair equipment, computer, multi-function printer, and phone.
Physical Demands:
Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.; routinely lift and carry parts and equipment 15-75 pounds; possess manual dexterity to complete projects in a craftsman fashion.
Environment:
Work around moving objects or vehicles; fumes, solvents, grease and oil. May work under conditions of inclement weather.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
