We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and ensuring the well-being of our furry patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized clinic.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood draws and urinalysis.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and health practices.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including catheterization when necessary.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the clinic, including grooming areas and examination rooms.
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes to the veterinarian.
Requirements
- Previous experience in animal care or veterinary settings is required
- Licensed Veterinary technician is preferred but will consider an assistant with a minimum of 2 years experience
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and basic veterinary terminology.
- Proficiency in dog handling techniques and experience required
- Candidates must be able to collect blood samples and place catheters
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and team members effectively.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is essential
