Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and ensuring the well-being of our furry patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
  • Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Perform laboratory tests, including blood draws and urinalysis.
  • Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
  • Educate pet owners on proper animal care and health practices.
  • Prepare animals for surgery, including catheterization when necessary.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the clinic, including grooming areas and examination rooms.
  • Monitor animal behavior and report any changes to the veterinarian.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in animal care or veterinary settings is required
  • Licensed Veterinary technician is preferred but will consider an assistant with a minimum of 2 years experience
  • Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and basic veterinary terminology.
  • Proficiency in dog handling techniques and experience required
  • Candidates must be able to collect blood samples and place catheters
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and team members effectively.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is essential

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $14.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28 – 40 per week
