What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at Villanova Veterinary Hospital?
Villanova Veterinary Hospital is looking for a veterinary technician to become part of our friendly and collaborative work environment with overall great clients and patients.
This is a part-time position that includes assisting in doctor exams, running tech appointments, performing dental cleanings, and anesthetic monitoring. The schedule is for 26-34 hours each week (~10 hours each Monday, Tuesday, and Friday) and rotating Saturday mornings (about 1 every 8 weeks). For reference, the hospital is open Mon, Tues, Weds, Fri 8a-5p and the first and third Saturday of each month 9a-12p.
Applicants should submit their resumé detailing experience and desired salary. Pay for this position is $18-$23 hourly, commensurate with experience. We are willing to train to an extent but you must have 1 year experience working as a technician in a small animal veterinary hospital or have a CVT/RVT license. Anesthesia protocol experience is strongly preferred. We are extremely paper-lite so computer skills are absolutely necessary. EOE and at will employment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing excellent client communication and patient care
- Restraining animals (must be able to lift up to 45lbs)
- Recording accurate medical notes
- Placing IV catheters and venipuncture
- Operating in-house lab equipment
- Preparing and reading microscope slides
- Performing digital radiographs (standard and dental)
- Conducting tech appointments (nail trims, anal sac expressions, vaccine boosters, blood draws, insulin/fluids demonstrations, etc.)
- Filling prescriptions in-house and through our online store
- Performing dental scaling/polishing
- Preparing for and monitoring during anesthetic procedures
- Maintaining a clean and well-stocked hospital
