What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance Manager position at Violence Intervention Program?
Position: Compliance Manager
Department: Administration
Location(s): Upper Manhattan, with frequent travel to Bronx and Queens
Reports To: Executive Director
Classification: Full Time, Exempt
Salary: $80,000, non-negotiable, plus benefits
The Violence Intervention Program (VIP) is culturally specific nonprofit organization in New York City led by and for Latinx survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Created as a grassroots response to intimate partner violence and sexual assault, VIP has always centered survivors in its leadership and has worked to create a community of staff that reflects the rich national, ethnic and racial diversity of the communities it serves. VIP operates three community-based social service programs, four housing programs (including emergency shelter), a live-operated helpline, innovative economic justice, sexual violence, restorative justice and child and adolescent programs, and a robust community engagement team.
What We Offer: As an organization led by and for people of color and survivors of violence, we are deeply committed to our team’s wellness. We seek to create a supportive environment by offering: unlimited PTO; flexible schedules; a hybrid workplace policy (staff are expected to work in-person 2-3 times per week, more often if it’s necessary for the role); health benefits coverage up to 90% for staff and their families; 403(b) retirement plans; a staff wellness committee; ample professional development opportunities; time to connect and laugh together and more. We are a work in progress and encourage input from team members to help us shape an affirming and uplifting workplace.
The Compliance Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of 30 grants from foundations and city, state and federal partners. This is a new position for a nonprofit that has recently grown in size and is seeking a leader to ensure the organization meets all regulatory and contractual requirements, including regular reporting on program achievements and periodic program audits.
The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of strong project, data and time management skills. They must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to ethical and transparent work practices. The Compliance Manager works across multiple departments to achieve their goals; it is essential that they are able to effectively coordinate staff with different responsibilities, priorities, and perspectives. The Compliance Manager should share a passion for racial, gender and economic justice and for VIP’s mission to support Latinx survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This is a great leadership opportunity for someone invested in data-driven nonprofit management.
