About the role
Those in this position will provide leadership, supervision and support to the assistant manager and all supervisors and coordinators and indirectly to all guest services representatives and volunteers reporting to such. They will act as a liaison between this organization, the Aviation Department Representative (herein entitled ADR) or designee by the City of Phoenix for this contract, and any relevant stakeholders associated with the operation of this contract. With primary oversight of all hourly and salaried employees under this contract, processing of payroll, the employment life cycle which includes recruitment, orientation, training, and workforce development, and scheduling will reside within the scope of work of those in this position. Asset management and tracking as well as execution and / or oversight of various programs associated with this contract will reside within the scope of work of those in this position. Operations managers will also coordinate with other managers and executive leadership to accomplish company objectives and goals and aligning with contractor needs, expectations, initiatives, and deliverables.
What you'll do
Be present for and remain vigilant to needs of direct reports, communicating windows of availability whenever possible.
Be impartial in the rendering of services thus not in bias or favor of any specific employee, contractor, stakeholder, or other airport guests on the basis of protected status such as race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender or perceived gender, or religion, and be sensitive to cultural differences.
Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity in communication whether in direct communication or as a third-party translator.
Communicating whether in person or via electronic devices in a clear manner, concisely, and in a positive and culturally relevant manner with employees, contractors, guests and stakeholders at the airport or while in uniform and / or representing the company.
Exercising sound judgment to prevent damage to the property of others or interference with airport operations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
Self-directed and self-motivated, able to work long hours independently with little supervision.
Organized and able to establish organization and assign, define, and communicate processes and procedures to others.
As an exempt employee, the ability to work flexible schedules as the airport is a 24 / 7 / 365 operation and managers must be able to be on-site during irregular operations, special events, and to manage weather and staffing emergencies.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with both individuals and large groups / crowds.
Negotiation, conflict resolution, and performance counseling skills.
A bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to customer service. A combination of education and work experience may be considered.
Three or more years of experience in a leadership role.
Two or more years of experience working with volunteers.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working in an airport, event management, or hospitality setting or any setting where fast-paced, "touch and go" yet professional customer interactions are required and / or commonplace.
Fluency to advanced language skill in Spanish : speaking and listening comprehension.
Experience in establishing corporate culture or change management to align with contractor needs and initiatives.
Additional Eligibility Requirements :
Ability to acquire and maintain City of Phoenix and the TSA badge credentialing for work at the airport.
Ability to acquire and maintain Customs seal credentialing for work in Customs-bonded areas.
