The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the daily administration of various HR functions to include, but not limited to employee relations, learning and development, performance management, employee recognition, onboarding, exit procedures, and assisting employees. Serving as a liaison between management and employees, they assist with the interpretation of policies and procedures of the Human Resources department and organization.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Handles all aspects of employees relations, including conducting investigations based on reports of inappropriate employee behavior and working with managers and supervisors to resolve employee concerns
Interprets human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and regulations
Assists supervisors and managers in the appropriate preparation and delivery of disciplinary action.
Develops, conducts, coordinates and tracks employee learning and development offerings and other training as needed
Manages performance review process
Supports the HR department in creating and implementing programs and events to help improve the employee experience
Utilizes an HR information system (HRIS) to enter and maintain accurate employee data
Maintains organization and accuracy of human resources documents, forms, HR shared drive and HRIS database
Ensures compliance with state and federal laws; monitors facility bulletin boards to ensure up-to-date postings of required information
Ensures the confidentiality and security of all employee information and records
Provides high-quality customer service and support to employees and management on HR-related matters
Collaborates with managers to write and revise job descriptions
Manages and leads committees to increase employee engagement and morale
Complies with and ensures employees understand and comply with policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
At least 2-5 years related experience
HR Certification a plus
Nonprofit experience a plus
SKILLS / ABILITIES :
Bilingual : English / Spanish
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong customer service skills with a “servant-like mentality”
Ability to act with integrity and professionalism
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to work independently with little direction
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Must have the ability to act promptly and have a sense of urgency
Knowledge of HRIS systems; experience with Paycom is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Occasionally may move objects weighing up to 30 lbs
