Job Duties
- Ensures successful implementation and accomplishment of project goals/objectives and smooth operations of work unit
- Provides guidance/counseling regarding activities; policies and procedures
- Oversees performance management
- Manages a comprehensive and diverse system of statewide programs and services
- Evaluates/monitors operational and service effectiveness of multiple divisions
- Provides general direction and guidance; ensures effective development, planning and implementation of training and certification
- Provides daily management to support program; recruitment/ development, establishment of work standards and processes, assignment of primary responsibilities, consultation, final editorial review/approval of recommendations, evaluation of work and problem solving
- Conducts special studies and projects as assigned
- May serve as staff member to the Board; assists in orientation of new members; serves as lead resource
- Prepares legislative studies/data analysis; responds to requests for reports/data; prepares briefing/talking points
- Interacts with diverse constituencies on matters relating to operations of administrative/operational programs, resolution of major issues and consulting on legislative issues
- Testifies before committees as requested
- Monitors legislation by attending meetings; follows processes through to determine impact
- Provides technical assistance; responds to inquiries
- Prepares/reviews written project analyses and assessments of agreements; communicates difficult projects with supervisor
- Maintains database to track and ensure timely/accurate responses
- Establishes quality indicators and guidelines for published work produced; expectations clearly communicated
- Continuously reviews appropriateness of recommendations; ensures technically correct/supported
May be required to perform other duties as assigned; may include functions in support of an emergency declaration
This is a restricted position, which is funded by the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC) Cooperative Agreement for a 1 year period ending July 31, 2025 and general funds. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually, before July 31, 2025, and annually thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge & experience in administrative & business practices, programmatic & operational controls, personnel management & budgetary controls
- Ability to apply knowledge & skills in program evaluation, analysis & strategic planning
- Skills & experience in leadership, interpersonal communications & public speaking, working with boards, committees, hospitals, local, federal & state agencies

Experience working as an infection preventionist.
Experience leading an infection prevention program.
Public health experience.
Progressively responsible administrative and managerial experience in a governmental organization or agency.
Considerable experience and understanding of HAI/AR epidemiology and surveillance methodologies.
