What are the responsibilities and job description for the Knowledge Management Analyst position at Virginia State Bar?
The Virginia State Bar (VSB) is looking for an individual to support the development and implementation of the VSB information governance/knowledge management program. As the knowledge management specialist, you will learn about VSB record and information processes and recommend strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of these processes, while minimizing associated sensitive information exposure, risks and additional costs. You will collaborate with staff and senior leadership to organize and effectively maintain information in Microsoft 365 applications; develop and apply taxonomy, metadata standards, and classification schemes; and provide training, instructional materials, and communications to facilitate the adoption of metadata standards and best practices for knowledge management. In addition, you will maintain record retention and destruction schedules; assist with the retrieval, review, and production of information requests; monitor knowledge management content to ensure outdated information is archived or updated; and ensure records are properly retained, transferred, preserved and destroyed. This role is ideal for a candidate who would like to leverage their technical competencies to improve operational efficiency, without assuming technical Information Technology responsibilities.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field like records management, library science, knowledge management, information technology or equivalent training/work experience.
- Self-motivated, logical, forward thinking and process oriented.
- Strong technical skills relevant to this role, experience with Microsoft 365 applications (e.g., Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive) and awareness of emerging technologies such as Microsoft Copilot.
- Strong understanding of knowledge management principles and practices, including taxonomies.
- Excellent analytical, research, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Experience with records management systems and electronic records management.
- Familiarity with information security practices.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage, collaborate, and clearly present information to others.
- Familiarity with e-discovery and/or experience with case management and document management systems a plus.
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
