Staff Accountant
Reports to : Accounting Manager
Hours : 40 hours per week Wage : TBD - depending on experience and skill level
Position Summary
Virnig Manufacturing is seeking a Staff Accountant to assist the finance department with daily, weekly, monthly and annual accounting activities. Responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of company financial statements, analyzing trends, and supporting other functions of the accounting department such as accounts payable, collections and invoicing.
This individual must have strong verbal and written interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, willing to work within a team environment and has the ability to apply critical thinking skills daily. A strong work ethic, attention to detail and a demonstrated knowledge of accounting functions are a must. This person will have the ability to grow into new roles and responsibilities as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Account Reconciliation : Reconcile bank statements, balance sheets, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Data Entry & Accuracy : Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in accounting systems.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable : Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable. Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections, and assist in vendor and customer communication. Process credit card transactions for various cards in a timely fashion.
- General Ledger Maintenance : Record and reconcile journal entries related to manufacturing activities, ensuring all activity is complete and accurate.
- Month-End and Year-End Closing : Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring that all manufacturing-related transactions are properly accounted for, including accruals and adjustments.
- Financial Reporting : Assist in the preparation company financial statements as well as periodic financial reports related to manufacturing operations, including detailed reports on cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory levels, and manufacturing expenses.
- Budgeting vs. Actual Reporting : Compile budget vs. actual reporting.
- Fixed Asset Accounting : Track and record fixed assets related to manufacturing equipment, including depreciation calculations and ensuring proper accounting treatment for acquisitions and disposals.
- Expense Reporting : Review and process employee expense reports and other financial transactions to ensure proper allocation
