My name is Aditya and I represent Vision InfoTech. I came across this role that you might be interested in. Let me know if you're interested in the below position.
Role: Application Security Specialist
Location: Dallas or Fort Worth TX - Hybrid Remote
Duration: Contract
Job Overview:
We are looking for a Junior to Mid-Level Application Security Specialist to join our security team and work closely with development teams. In this role, you will bridge the gap between security and development by advocating for the developers, communicating risks, and helping them incorporate security practices into their development processes. While prior security experience is a plus, we are more focused on your mindset and willingness to learn, especially if you have a background in development and want to transition into application security. The role will also focus on cloud security, particularly Azure, so a solid understanding of cloud-based application development will be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities:
Security Risk Communication:
Work closely with development teams to communicate security risks effectively and advocate for security best practices. Ensure developers understand the importance of security measures and how they impact the overall application lifecycle.
Collaboration with Development Teams:
Be an active participant in the development process by providing security guidance and insights from a security-first perspective. Help identify vulnerabilities and work with the team to mitigate them early in the development process.
Security Education and Advocacy:
Educate developers on secure coding practices, the potential security risks of their code, and how to build more secure applications. Act as a security advocate for the development team, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge to address security issues.
Cloud Security Focus (Azure):
Focus on cloud application security, particularly within the Azure environment. Help ensure that applications deployed on the cloud are secure, scalable, and compliant with security standards.
Threat and Vulnerability Management:
Help identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities in the development pipeline, contributing to secure software development lifecycles (SDLC).
Communication with Rishi and Cross-functional Teams:
Act as a liaison between Rishi and the development team, ensuring security risks and initiatives are communicated effectively. Provide regular updates on the progress of security tasks, vulnerabilities, and resolutions.
Security Tool Familiarity:
Familiarity with security tools is beneficial, but there is no specific preference for tools outside of Azure. However, any experience with security testing tools or processes will be considered a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in development (e.g., software engineering, application development) with a desire to pivot into application security.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to developers in a way that's understandable and actionable.
Ability to advocate for security needs while understanding the pressures and objectives of development teams.
Knowledge of cloud-based application security, ideally in Azure.
Familiarity with secure coding practices and the ability to assist developers in following these practices.
Experience interacting with developers in a collaborative and effective manner.
Willingness to learn and grow in the field of application security, with a passion for improving security in software development.
Nice to Have:
Previous experience in application security, including performing security assessments or vulnerability management, is a plus.
Familiarity with other security-related tools or practices such as static/dynamic analysis or penetration testing (but not required).
Experience with any cloud platforms outside of Azure is beneficial but not necessary.
