Job Description
The Quality Assurance (QA) Lead position is responsible for developing and executing the Quality Assurance strategy. This role is situated within the Project Management Office (PMO) of the IT Department.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability in QA strategy, best practices, processes, and procedures, and will be skilled in effectively communicating these to the organization to ensure quality and consistency in software and service delivery.
This organization is nearing the full implementation of a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, which will significantly change processes. As part of this transformation, a new department will be established to focus on the ongoing enhancement and support of the CRM. Located within the Customer Care Services department, this individual will collaborate closely with IT to ensure the effective and efficient execution of IT governance processes concerning change management, adherence to standards, and quality assurance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish service quality awareness, best practices, and improvements within the QA practice.
- Develop, execute, and oversee procedures, policies, and training plans within the organization.
- Facilitate performance reviews of IT services to ensure value delivery to all stakeholders.
- Utilize quality monitoring data to assess the overall health of the program and address key performance signals and risk mitigation.
- Identify programmatic and performance deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and ensure their implementation.
- Create action plans to eliminate root causes of issues and enhance operational performance.
- Exhibit strong presentation and communication skills to effectively lead discussions, documenting and conveying information to all organizational levels, both internally and externally, to drive improvements across all QA metrics.
- Provide regular quality reports and trend analyses to senior leadership, along with recommendations to ensure compliance and improve customer experience.
- Continually enhance the Quality Assurance Program across teams, both in-house and outsourced, by creating standardized processes and workflows, QA frameworks and guidelines, and revamping QA Scorecards.
- Actively participate in formal reviews of business requirements and application designs.
- Develop a Test Strategy, which includes test plans, test cases, and test data using test management software to ensure full coverage of requirements while setting up a traceability matrix.
- Estimate test efforts, design, document, manage, and execute test case sets, and analyze and communicate the results in a reportable metrics format.
- Maintain and update test assets regularly.
- Implement testing entrance and exit criteria and effectively manage critical paths during testing.
- Champion and adhere to QA testing practices.
- Adapt and learn quickly in a challenging environment with multiple testing tools.
Minimum Experience/Education Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a QA Test Lead (or in a similar role), demonstrating leadership in QA practice and strategy development and execution.
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Comprehensive knowledge of software testing best practices.
- Familiarity with testing methods, levels, and types.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, along with a strong executive presence.
- Experience with multiple QA software tools (e.g., Microsoft Test Manager, HP Quality Center, ALM, ADO).
- In-depth understanding of the defect lifecycle.
- Ability to perform basic database queries.
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
- Capability to meet deadlines and deliverables while managing competing priorities.
- Experience in an IT environment with established governance processes.
