Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Staff Accountant with expertise in the SaaS industry to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations specific to SaaS business models. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of revenue recognition (ASC 606), subscription-based accounting, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain financial statements, reports, and general ledger reconciliations with a focus on SaaS revenue streams.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure proper revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606 for subscription-based services.
- Assist with budget preparation, financial forecasting, and SaaS-specific metrics (e.g., ARR, MRR, churn).
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other financial regulations relevant to SaaS accounting.
- Support audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures tailored to SaaS operations.
- Coordinate with internal teams to optimize financial processes and internal controls.
- Mentor and guide junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a SaaS environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606, and financial reporting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with SaaS metrics, revenue recognition, and deferred revenue accounting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate with teams.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
