Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
This job is responsible for planning, supervising and evaluating daily operations associated with medical/mental health social work, counseling and/or related services for the assigned Emergency Department (ED). Work is conducted in accordance with established business objectives, applicable accreditation/regulatory requirements and professional standards for the clinical discipline. An incumbent ensures the delivery of quality and cost-effective patient care, and is also responsible for maintaining optimum staffing levels, supervising the work of professional social work staff, addressing performance management issues and assisting employees in performing professional activities which include assessing and providing support/intervention for the social/emotional needs of patients and their families to facilitate continuity of care and services.
Work requires knowledge of the concepts, professional standards and methodologies applicable to the social work discipline, and of applicable regulatory requirements sufficient to ensure quality and compliant patient care and to exercise judgment and critical thinking in resolving complex issues. Also requires expertise in supervising and evaluating the work of professional staff. Major decisions are subject to the review and approval of higher-level management.
NOTE: Employees assigned to the Emergency Department must meet special requirements as outlined in the Minimum Job Qualifications section.

Qualifications
Education/Work Experience Requirements
Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Welfare or related behavioral science field, and FIVE YEARS of directly related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
NOTE: If assigned to the Emergency Department, an applicant must meet the minimum requirements of WAC 388-865-0238 (Definition of a Mental Health Professional) in order to meet the requirements of RCW 71.05 as relates to the provision of Mental Health Evaluations in the Emergency Department.
Licensure/Certification
- Agency Affiliated Counselor or one of the following:
- LICSW – Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (Preferred)
- LMHC – Licensed Mental Health Counselor
- LMFT – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
- LASW – Licensed Advanced Social Worker
- Active membership in the National Association of Social Workers is preferred.
Pay Range
$44.73 - $64.85 /hour
Salary : $45 - $65
