Job Overview
We are seeking a Survey Manager to oversee land surveying projects from planning through completion. This role is responsible for managing field crews, analyzing geographic data, and ensuring accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, communication, and technical skills to support energy-related infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of survey projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and reporting.
- Oversee field crews and ensure timely, accurate data collection.
- Coordinate with branch offices to prioritize jobs and maintain efficiency.
- Develop and maintain project schematics and documentation.
- Use GIS software to analyze geographic data in support of project needs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal surveying regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers and project stakeholders to integrate survey data.
- Mentor and train junior surveying staff on tools, techniques, and best practices.
- Review and verify the accuracy of survey results prior to client delivery.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering).
- Proficiency with surveying software (e.g., Carlson SurvCAD).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in land surveying.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across departments.
Preferred:
- 10 years of experience in land surveying.
- Experience in the oil & gas industry, including well pad and road design, construction layout, ALTA, and boundary surveys.
- Prior management or team leadership experience.
- WV Professional Surveyor license (additional state licenses are a plus).
